Nichole and Gregory Savage, Esq. opened the doors of Savage Dance Company to the Mid-Maryland dance community in the summer of 2002 along Liberty Road in Eldersburg, MD. The studio was a modest 2300 sq ft, with two dance studios and a lobby. SAVAGE had three instructors and planned on offering approximately 30-35 classes per week to dancers age 2 to adult with the hopes of one day expanding.

Within two years, the studio had grown tremendously as it was now the home of dance education for more than 250 students. SAVAGE increased its facility size to 3700 square feet and four dance studios in order to satisfy the increasing demand of the community. SAVAGE then employed 8 full-time instructors, and was offering master classes to its dancers on a routine basis. In addition, SAVAGE had developed a competition team that was winning regional and national titles. The local community and professional dance industry began taking notice to our local, home team. SAVAGE graciously welcomed renown master instructors to the studio from LA, Atlanta, Canada and New York, including choreographers and performers for shows such as “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dancing with The Stars.”

As a result, and over the past 20+ years, SAVAGE Dance Company has been recognized nationally as one of the “Top 29 Dance Studios”  in the US by Dance Spirit and Dance Teacher Magazine (2008), a TOP 5 STUDIO OF THE YEAR (2017 and 2019), winner of WOD (2017, 2018), and most recently DMI’s National STUDIO OF THE YEAR (2023).

SAVAGE now resides in an 8,000 square foot facility in Sykesville, MD.  The studio houses five professionally floored studios, two spacious lobbies, and observation windows throughout.

Since 2002, we have expanded, grown, and matured as a studio and dance family.  However, our success has been built on never losing sight of why we opened this studio in the first place. We pledge to provide all of our dancers the highest quality of dance education in mid-Maryland, regardless of their age or level of experience.  We continue to stay focused on a shared love for dance and the arts, while nurturing and developing a well-rounded child!

Our mission at SAVAGE DANCE is to provide a well rounded dance education to the youth of our community. We strive to provide a fun, safe, nurturing environment for all of our dancers.  While our staff and faculty are diverse in their professional training, their delivery stays child-centered, creating a positive space for all!

While SAVAGE DANCE is home to many professional dancers in the industry, we take great pride in housing a SAVAGE family that exhibits and teaches “more than just dance.".  With more than 20+ years in business, SAVAGE DANCE has become a solid basis for friendship, leadership, community presence, and both recreational and pre-professional dance training.
